CAGIS is pleased to announce that they are receiving a new award “Healthy Wells” from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the NC Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services. The award for the “Health Wells” project is in total $666,665 for five years (UNCC part: $294,449).

This project is designed to help protect the domestic water supply of Gaston County residents dependent on private sources through an integrated two pronged approaches: (1) collect and digitize groundwater and local well information, and construct a spatiotemporal database to the existing county GIS, and (2) provide a comprehensive country-wide educational program and incentivize local residents to proactively monitor and protect local groundwater sources and wells. CAGIS is primarily responsible for automated data digitization and GIS aspects of the project by providing our cutting-edge CyberGIS capabilities.
